LIPSYNC PROJECT ROSTER - 2011

Having enjoyed great successes in 2010 with the likes of Made In Dagenham, Nowhere Boy, Kick-Ass and Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, LipSync has kicked off the new year with an enviable slate and continues to attract a broad range of projects to its talented post-production departments. By being involved at the production stage, the post teams can offer advice on how to get the most from the films’ budgets in order to achieve the directors’ visions.


Coriolanus
LipSync has completed full post including audio and VFX on Ralph Fiennes’ directorial debut feature film – the starry cast includes Fiennes in Shakespeare’s title role, as well as Gerard Butler, Vanessa Redgrave and Brian Cox. Produced by Artemis Films and BBC Films, Coriolanus will receive an international theatrical release.


Jane Eyre
Continuing the classical theme, this adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s beloved story stars Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) in the title role and Michael Fassbender (Hunger, Inglourious Basterds) as Mr Rochester. Jane Eyre is directed by Cary Fukunaga (Sin Nombre) and produced by Ruby Films, Focus Features and BBC Films. It will receive an international theatrical release. LipSync will provide all post services.


Zen
LipSync completed full post on this 3x90min detective story set in Rome, based on the best-selling Aurelio Zen novels by Michael Dibdin. The series was launched on primetime BBC1 in January 2011 and will also be released in international cinemas. The producer is Left Bank Productions (Wallander, Married Single Other).


Life In A Day
Life In A Day is a documentary shot by filmmakers the world over which serves as a time capsule to show future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th July 2010. Directed by Kevin MacDonald and produced by Ridley Scott, LipSync VFX undertook visual effects work that included extensive stabilisation of hand-held camera footage, as well as painstaking image sharpening, enhancement and repair of footage to help bring it to a world-wide audience.


Toast
Toast is a 90 minute adaptation of TV chef’s Nigel Slater’s successful biography for prime time BBC1. LipSync completed full post on this feature, which was another Ruby Films production; it will also receive an international theatrical release.


Unknown
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and produced by Joel Silver, Unknown stars Liam Neeson as a man who wakes from a coma, only to discover that someone has taken on his identity and that no one - not even his wife - believes him. With the help of a young woman, he sets out to prove who he is. LipSync VFX worked on 100+ visual effects shots which included some of its most complicated work to date including a CG fridge, a sinking taxi and a stunning crash involving a fully computer generated tram and car.


My Week With Marilyn
This film documents the interaction between Sir Laurence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe during production of the 1957 movie The Prince and the Showgirl. It stars Michelle Williams and Kenneth Branagh, and is produced by The Weinstein Company, BBC Films, Trademark Films and UK Film Council.


Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
LipSync will provide VFX for the extraordinary story of Dr Alfred Jones, a fisheries scientist who finds himself reluctantly involved in a project to bring salmon fishing to the Highlands of the Yemen - a project that will change his life, and the course of British political history forever. With Lasse Hallström at the helm and a cast including Ewan McGregor, Kristin Scott Thomas and Emily Blunt, this is one to look out for.

 

Shame
Steve McQueen’s hotly anticipated second feature follows a 30-something’s myriad sexual escapades, and what happens when his wayward younger sister moves in with him. Michael Fassbender, Carey Mulligan and James Badge Dale star in the film, which is produced by Film4, UK Film Council and Hanway Films.


Hunky Dory
Marc Evans directs this 1970s high school musical comedy, which tells the story of a high school drama teacher (Minnie Driver) who decides that the end of year show will be a rock and roll version of The Tempest. The script has been written by Laurence Coriat (Wonderland) and is being produced by Billy Elliot producer Jon Finn and Dan Lupovitz, whose credits include Death Defying Acts. Billy Elliot musical director Jeremy Holland Smith is also on board.


The Awakening
Produced by Origin Pictures and directed by Nick Murphy, this ghost/horror story stars Rebecca Hall, Dominic West and Imelda Staughton. Post-production starts at LipSync later this year.


The Crimson Petal and the White
A four-part adaptation of Michel Faber's international best-selling novel for BBC Two. Adapted by acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Lucinda Coxon and directed by Marc Munden, this intimate psychological thriller lifts the lid on the darker side of Victorian London revealing a world seething with vitality, sexuality, ambition and emotion.

 

The Deep Blue Sea
Produced by Film 4 and the UK Film Council, this adaptation of Terence Rattigan's celebrated play will star Rachel Weisz, Tom Hiddleston and Simon Russell Beale. It is produced by Kate Ogborn and Simon O’Conner, and directed by Terence Davies.


United
A drama following the aftermath of the Munich Air Crash of 1958 that killed many of the Manchester United football squad known as the ‘Busby Babes’. Starring David Tennant and Dougray Scott, the drama will be broadcast on BBC2 and released theatrically around the world. It will be directed by James Strong and produced by Julia Stannard and World Productions.


We Need To Talk About Kevin
LipSync will complete full post on this BBC Films adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s award-winning novel about a mother dealing with her grief after her teenage son goes on a killing spree. Directed by Lynne Ramsay, the film stars Tilda Swinton and John C Reilly.


Dark Tide
This thriller, directed by John Stockwell (Into The Blue, Blue Crush) stars Halle Berry as a diving instructor who returns to deep waters after a near-fatal encounter with a Great White shark. The film is being produced by Jeanette Buerling, Matthew Chasse and Chris Curling; Curling previously worked with LipSync on Wah Wah and Five Children and It.


Ironclad
LipSync has completed a significant amount of VFX work on this mediaeval epic that sees a determined group of Knights Templar defend Rochester Castle against the tyrannical King John. LipSync’s work includes Digital Matte Paintings, CG Castle’s, CG weaponry, element and make-up effects and crowd replication.


Flutter
Now in post-production at LipSync, Flutter is a gambling cautionary tale directed by Giles Borg and produced by Sarah Boote and Alan Latham. The cast includes Laura Fraser, Ricky Tomlinson, Mark Williams and Billy Zane.


The First Grader
LipSync completed full post on this film, which was shown at the 2010 London Film Festival. It tells the true story of an 84 year-old Kenyan villager and ex Mau Mau freedom fighter who fights for his right to go to school for the first time to get the education he could never afford. Producer David Thompson, director Justin Chadwick.


The Great Ghost Rescue
VFX will play a major part in this ghostly tale which boasts a cast including Kevin McKidd and Steven Mackintosh. LipSync’s VFX department is working overtime on this, including the creation of a fully CG character. LipSync also provide all other post services.


Blitz
LipSync has completed full post on this cop/serial killer thriller which is produced by Lionsgate and stars Jason Statham, Paddy Considine and David Morrissey. UK release date is currently slated for 6 May 2011.
