LIPSYNC INVESTS £400k IN EQUIPMENT FOR AUDIO, VFX, HD AND 3D POST

LipSync Post, the leading Soho full-service post-production facility, has invested in a range of new equipment and major upgrades for its audio, VFX and DI departments. The investment, worth approximately £400,000, demonstrates LipSync's continuing confidence despite the shaky economy, and its ongoing commitment to provide clients with the latest and greatest technology available. Recent high-profile and critically-acclaimed productions include Kick Ass, Fantastic Mr Fox, Nowhere Boy and Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.

Jon Diamond, Managing Director for the LipSync Group of Companies, said, "Thanks to our talented post-production teams we are welcoming both returning clients and new business to LipSync, and have a very healthy roster of current and future film and television work even in these gloomy times. This investment underlines our commitment to remain at the forefront of the UK post market."

In the audio department, LipSync has upgraded all it's Avid Pro Tools systems to version 8, and has installed new HD projectors in each of its mixing theatres in order to give clients better quality pictures to go with their sound edit.

The in-demand VFX department is now equipped with 20 Nuke licenses for all its 2D compositing work, and has also expanded its render farm by 30%. In addition it has installed a new hi-res projector in its dedicated VFX screening room.

The DI department also benefits from 3D software which is now available in its three suites - two Quantel Pablo systems and one Quantel IQ system - and a JVC 3D monitor has been installed. LipSync is seeing a marked upsurge in 3D interest, with two projects completed and formal discussions progressing on several new 3D productions.

LIPSYNC SECURES POST FOR BBC'S 'TOAST'

Lipsync have secured the Post Production for the BBC's Toast, the biography of TV Chef Nigel Slater. This success follows on from Ruby Films choosing Lipsync Post for they're prestigious Jane Eyre feature film. The following is the official BBC press release for the show:

"Helena Bonham Carter is set to play the stepmother of renowned food writer and chef Nigel Slater in Toast, a film based on his bestselliong novel of the same name, with Freddie Highmore set to portray Slater as a 15-year-old boy, made by Ruby Films and Television for BBC One.

Jay Hunt, Controller, BBC One says: "Toast is a wonderfully nostalgic drama which will be a real treat for BBC One viewers. This remarkable cast is sure to really bring Ngel Slater's story alive."

Alison Owen, Executive Producer, Ruby Films says: "Freddie and Helena were our dream choices for Toast - we're so happy to bring the Ruby standards of quality casting to this wonderful coming of age story for a UK audience."

Toast is the ultimate nostalgia trip through everything edible in sixties Britain. Based on the heart-wrenching bitter-sweet story of food writer Nigel Slater's childhood, Toast is a delicious retrieval of the tastes and smells that a young boy associates with his journey into adulthood.

It has so far sold a quarter of a million copies. It was also the winner of six literary awards, including the National Book Awards British Biography of the Year.

Highmore is best known for his role in Tim Burton's Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and Bonham Carter has most recently starred in the visionary director's big screen adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and BBC Four's Enid.

Written by Billy Elliot scribe Lee Hall based on the autobiographical novel by Slater, Toast is set to shoot in June in the West Midlands.

Directed by SJ Clarkson, best known for her TV directing roles for Life On Mars, Mistresses and more recently Heroes.

Commissioned by Jay Hunt, Controller, BBC One and Ben Stephenson, Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning.

Toast is produced by Faye Ward at Ruby Films, and is funded by Screen West Midlands, Lipsync Post Production, Ruby Films and Television for the BBC.

Executive producers are Alison Owen, Paul Trijbits and Nicole Finman and Jamie Laurenson at the BBC. The Works is selling the film internationally as a feature film.

Ruby Films and Television most recently produced Small Island and, RTS Award Winner, Five Minutes Of Heaven for the BBC.

It has also recently completed principal photography on Jane Eyre for Focus Features and BBC Films. Directed by, Sin Nombre director, Cary Fukunaga, and starring Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Michael Fassbender (Fishtank, Inglorious Basterds), Jamie Bell, Imogen Poots and Dame Judi Dench."

Lipsync VFX has been awarded, and now completed, over 50 shots on the highly anticipated Medieval romp that is Ironclad. Set in 13th Century Britain, the story centres around a group of Knights Templar determined to defend Rochester Castle from the tyrannical King John.

With a stellar cast including the likes of James Purefoy, Paul Giamatti, Brian Cox, Derek Jacobi, Jason Flemyng, Kate Mara and Mackenzie Crook to name but a few, Ironclad will blow audiences away when released later this year.

'FANTASTIC MR FOX' WINS AT ANNECY 2010

Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr Fox has been awarded the two top prizes at The 50th Annecy International Animation Festival: The Cristal for Best Feature and the Audience Choice Award.

Lipsync are hugely proud to have been a part of such a globally successful film, having worked on over 75 VFX shots.
