LIPSYNC TAKES INSPIRATION FROM SEEDY SOHO FOR MARTINA COLE’S THE RUNAWAY

- Neon lights highlight juxtoposition of glamour and violence -

LipSync Post, the leading post-production facility, has completed the title sequence for the new Sky 1 HD drama, Martina Cole's The Runaway. The five part drama is an adaptation of Martina Cole's eponymous novel, produced by Company Pictures which also produced the acclaimed Sky 1 HD dramatisation of Cole's The Take in 2009. Martina Cole's The Runaway starts, Thursday 31 March, at 9pm on Sky 1 HD.

Set in the twilight would of London's Soho and New York, Martina Cole's The Runaway is a compelling drama spanning the decades from the 1960s to the 1980s, following the story of a runaway girl, an outrageous transvestite and an epic love story between childhood sweethearts.

Following a brief from Company Pictures LipSync presented several initial ideas, and the production team selected a concept inspired by the coloured neon sighs of the sex shops and nightclubs of Soho. Julia Hall and Howard Watkins were responsible for art direction to develop the idea, while Peter Dickinson created the design and production of the sequence. the bright glowing colours appear glamourous and seductive in contrast to the images they cut across, which portray violance, misery and death. All the work was edited, animated and composited in After Effects.

Howard Watkins, Creative Director, LipSync Post, said, "The key challenge was in choosing the right imagery to represent the series as a whole and producing 'time-slice' effects to create the sense of moments caught in time. The throbbing strobe of the lights also helped to enhance this"

LIPSYNC VFX REQUIRES CG SUPERVISOR

LipSync's VFX department is currently seeking a CG Supervisor to join our Film Effects department immediately to work on a number of features.

The ideal candidate will have a strong CG background in feature film and commercials, the ability to lead a small dedicated team and think outside the box, to be able to understand client's desires, ambitions and resources and be able to provide creative solutions.
