Lipsync Post has announced the appointment of Andrew Morley as its new Head of 3D/VFX Supervisor. Morley brings over ten years of experience from some of the leading visual effects facilities, including Lucasfilm, The Moving Picture Company and Industrial Light and Magic, and has worked on many high profile film projects including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Batman Begins and Troy. Morley's appointment to this position further strengthens LipSync's film post-production services, following its recent £500,000 investment in new state-of-the-art VFX facilities in Wardour Street.

"Andrew's experience working with the best VFX companies in the world on the most challenging projects will be an enormous asset to LipSync, particularly as we expand our existing 3D capabilities. We are delighted to welcome him to the LipSync family," said Jon Diamond, Managing Director of the LipSync Group of Companies. "We have a number of high profile films currently in the works and are in demand to take on several more in the coming months. Our continued investment in the expanded VFX facility, and in high calibre talent like Andrew, shows our clients that they can confidently put their projects in our hands."

Andrew Morley joins Lipsync Post from Lucasfilm Animation Singapore where he held the role of Digital Artist Group Supervisor/VFX Supervisor; he was responsible for running a department that produced feature film and concept work for Industrial Light and Magic including Transformers, Harry Potter 5 and the forthcoming The Spiderwick Chronicles, plus a variety of digital output for LucasArts's upcoming next-generation games. His role also included designing a flexible pipeline to refine the internal operating environment, and the sourcing and career development of 3D artists.

Prior to Lucasfilm Animation, Morley spent over three years at The Moving Picture Company, where he worked on projects including Sunshine, Batman Begins and Ella Enchanted. He has also worked at Industrial Light and Magic, The Mill and Imaj.

The investment will acquire and equip a 6,800 ft² premises in Wardour Street, London, which will be connected via SohoNet to LipSync's main building, also in Wardour Street. Recent high-profile films that have undergone the LipSync treatment include United 93, 28 Weeks Later, 1408 and Stardust.

"We are very proud of what Stefan Drury and his team have achieved in a very short space of time and, since we like to reward success with investment, we are providing a future-proof VFX environment which will allow for further expansion over the next few years," said Jon Diamond, Managing Director for the LipSync Group of Companies.

The new building will house a new Isilon 13Tb server plus several additional Linux Workstations running Apple's Shake and Autodesk's Maya, bringing the total number of systems in the department to 28. LipSync's award-winning creative agencies, LipSync Creative and Synchronicity, which specialise in film trailer production, TV and radio campaigns, DVD special features, promo materials and corporate communications, will also be moving to the new building.

Stefan Drury, LipSync's Head of VFX, said, "It has been an exciting two years - we have gone from conceptualising and building a department from scratch to working on some of the top films that have been released in the past 18 months. This expansion plan is simply fantastic and, with the high calibre of staff we have attracted, we are now well placed to take on larger scale projects."

The new investment will build on the major impact that LipSync is making on film post-production in the UK; in the last month alone it has won several full post contracts for feature films, supplying DI, VFX and audio post services.
