In 2017, LipSync were thrilled to once again work closely with Number 9 films in completing full post on Colette, a biopic starring Keira Knightley as famous French writer Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette. It follows the author as she emerges as the toast of Belle Epoque society with her sexually charged Claudine novels. Colette struggles to be recognised for her work, partly because her husband takes credit for her novels.
Colette has made a huge splash at Sundance with Variety’s Peter Debruge comparing it to The Danish Girl, noting “both are damn good stories” and “Colette is Westmoreland’s best looking film by far”. Jordan Hoffman of the Guardian raves that “Colette is exhilarating, funny, inspiring and gorgeous too.”
LipSync worked tirelessly to ensure the film looked ‘gorgeous’. Colourist Tom Russell worked to Westmoreland’s brief, ensuring to “maintain the film’s warmth”, amplifying the “meticulous costume and set design”.
Colette is directed by Wash Westmoreland and produced by Number 9 films.
