We are glad to announce that LipSync have been awarded full post on the theatrical production of Ian McEwan’s “On Chesil Beach”, directed by Dominic Cooke and produced by Liz Karlsson and Stephen Wooley.
Shooting starts on October 17th with full post beginning in March.
In house post producers for the film are Lisa Jordan and Keshia Agyei, with VFX led by Sheila Wickens.
Saoirse Ronan, Oscar nominated for her role in 50s-set romance Brooklyn at the Academy Awards this year, is to star in an adaptation of Ian McEwan’s 2007 book, On Chesil Beach.
The novel takes place in 1962, during a young couple’s honeymoon in Dorset. It will mark Ronan’s second McEwan adaptation before the age of 22, following Joe Wright’s Atonement, which won Ronan her first Oscar nomination. The role of Edward will be played by Billy Howle.
It is being produced by Number 9 Films, who were the driving force behind Carol and Youth. Said producer Elizabeth Karlsen: “It’s an extremely exciting prospect to be reunited with Saoirse Ronan on such a beautiful and heartbreaking project.”
“The character of Edward has a lot of qualities that are hard to find in young people today,” said Karlsen. “But Billy has all the qualities of strength, innocence, sensitivity and a certain kind of rage that are needed for this complex role.”
The project has been developed by Number 9 Films in conjunction with BBC Films. Lionsgate has taken UK rights and it is set to shoot in October.
